Cover Crop Share Application

Interested in planting a cover crop?

Big Horn Conservation District if offering cost-shares to Big Horn County Producers.

The purpose of the program is to encourage the utilization of cover crops in cropping systems.  The proper cover crop can economically control erosion, reduce runoff, increase organic matter, break up crop disease patterns, cycle deep nutrients and be used for haying and/or grazing.  Seeding a variety of different cover crops will help producers find the proper fit with their individual systems.

The cost share will be available at $30 per acre, max 40 acres per producer.

Producer will:

  • Complete an application,
  • Provide a map of seeding location,
  • Provide a copy of planned see mix receipt,
  • Prepare a weed-free seed bed,
  • Note all-important observations, and
  • Agree to tours and news articles

The application is easy to complete!

Please submit a completed application and W-9 form to the Big Horn Conservation District.  Applications may be mailed, emailed, dropped off at the Big Horn Conservation District.
